Crockett County Projected Release Meaning
TDCJ uses the exact label Projected Release Date. It is a current administrative calculation based on the sentence, offense date, eligibility law, credits, custody record, and Board action. It may represent a mandatory-supervision point for some eligible older cases. For later cases, mandatory supervision can require discretionary Board review. When mandatory supervision is unavailable or denied, the displayed projection may instead point toward discharge.
An actual release date records a completed event. It shows that the releasing jail or prison processed the person out on that date. A projection cannot prove that event. Parole approval also cannot prove it. A court order may authorize release, but processing, another hold, or transfer can keep the person in custody after the order date.
Pretrial detention is different. A person awaiting disposition at Crockett County Jail usually has no sentence-based release date. Bond posting, a court order, dismissal, transfer, or another legal event controls the next change. Asking the jail for a projected prison date in that situation mixes two different records.
Crockett County Release Date Sources
The correct source depends on custody. Crockett County Jail is the local custodian for a county booking and any county-jail sentence being served there. TDCJ is the custodian after a state commitment. BPP decides parole and mandatory-supervision questions. Federal and immigration authorities keep separate records, so a county-only lookup cannot resolve those dates.
| Situation | First source | What the date means |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial Crockett County detainee | Jail and court case | No fixed sentence date; bond and orders control |
| County-jail sentence | Crockett County Jail calculation and judgment | Local calculation based on the judgment and lawful credits |
| Current TDCJ prisoner | TDCJ current offender record | Administrative projected release date, subject to change |
| Parole case | BPP decision plus TDCJ approved-release status | Board result and processing stage, not the gate date by itself |
| Past state release | TDCJ incarceration history and release confirmation | Historical custody event rather than a future forecast |
| Federal sentence | BOP locator and federal court | Federal projected or recorded release, not county custody |
A transfer must remain labeled as a transfer. Leaving Crockett County Jail for a TDCJ intake unit ends local jail custody but not incarceration. Likewise, release from TDCJ on parole ends secure state confinement while supervision continues. Final discharge is a later and distinct status.
Find Crockett County Projected Dates
Build a timeline from source records. Use the judgment and offense date, not just the booking date. The booking starts a jail episode, while the judgment sets the sentence and often states credit. Search with exact identifiers because a same-name match can produce the wrong sentence calculation.
- Identify whether the person is pretrial, serving a county sentence, in TDCJ, in federal custody, or held by another authority.
- Obtain the final judgment, offense date, sentence, jail credit, and concurrent or consecutive terms from the relevant court.
- For current TDCJ custody, use the TDCJ offender search with a TDCJ number or SID when available.
- For TDCJ history or the exact projected-date field, send the required identifiers to TDCJ’s offender information email channel.
- Check the BPP vote separately, then use 512-406-5202 for approved parole-release status after approval.
- For a county sentence, ask Crockett County Jail for the sentence-calculation record and compare it with the court judgment.
- Confirm actual release with the institution that processed the release transaction.
The TDCJ information page documents the Projected Release Date field and the identity details needed for a written request. Open the official TDCJ information instructions before sending a name-only inquiry.
The displayed instructions also show why former-prisoner history needs a different channel from the current-inmate web form.
Crockett County TDCJ Search Fields
The online form is useful for a person now held by TDCJ. It expressly limits results to current TDCJ inmates, so no match cannot establish that a Crockett County person was discharged. Search inputs and returned fields should be read as current state-custody information.
| Field or identifier | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Last and first name | Broad person search | Spelling and same-name matches can mislead |
| TDCJ number | Direct state record match | Applies to TDCJ records |
| SID | State Identification number search | Must be entered accurately |
| Gender and race | Optional narrowing fields | Not substitutes for a unique identifier |
| Projected Release Date | Current administrative projection | Not proof of actual release |
| Location and offense data | Confirms current TDCJ context | May change with transfer or record updates |
For released-state-prison history, TDCJ says an email request can return the TDCJ number, location, conviction offense, current and prior incarceration history, and the exact Projected Release Date field where authorized. Provide the seven-digit TDCJ number. If it is unknown, use exact date of birth or approximate age and county of conviction. That service does not provide photographs.
Note: TDCJ’s current search dropping a former prisoner is a scope limit, not evidence that every sentence and supervision duty has ended.
Texas Release Date Rules
Texas has offense-specific eligibility rules. It does not apply one blanket rule that every person serves 85 percent. The calculation can turn on offense date, offense category, the final sentence, calendar time, good-conduct time treatment, a deadly-weapon finding, consecutive sentences, credits, and BPP decisions. A charge label alone is not enough because the final conviction and judgment control.
Texas Government Code sections 508.145 and 508.149 govern major parts of parole eligibility and mandatory-supervision limits. Code of Criminal Procedure article 42A.054 identifies specified serious-offense and deadly-weapon categories. The version in force on the offense date matters because the law changed over time.
Some categories use one-half of the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, without good-conduct time in that eligibility calculation. Other categories follow different rules. That milestone can be a review or eligibility point, not a guaranteed release date. BPP may approve, deny, defer, set conditions, or review mandatory supervision.
- Calendar time
- Days actually spent in custody.
- Good-conduct time
- Administrative credit that may affect eligibility or a projection but does not erase the judicial sentence.
- Parole eligibility
- The point at which a case may be considered, not a release promise.
- Mandatory supervision
- A statutory form of release from secure custody that remains subject to eligibility and, for many cases, Board review.
- Discharge
- Completion or lawful end of the sentence, distinct from supervised release.
Crockett County Jail Date Calculation
A TDCJ date calculator must not be used for a Crockett County jail sentence. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure article 42.032 governs county-jail good conduct and permits a commissioners court to adopt a plan under the statute. The official web sweep found no published Crockett County plan. No specific local credit rate should therefore be promised.
Ask Crockett County Jail for the maintained sentence-calculation record. Compare it with the judgment for the sentence length, court-awarded jail credit, and whether terms run at the same time or one after another. Holds from another authority and administrative processing can also affect the day a person is physically released.
The distinction prevents a common error. State-prison good-conduct rules and BPP review belong to TDCJ cases. County-jail good conduct depends on article 42.032 and the county’s actual adopted plan or practice. A pretrial detainee has neither type of sentence calculation until a court disposition creates one.
Note: Obtain the county calculation itself before estimating a local release; no Crockett County credit schedule was found online.
Crockett County Release Date Changes
A projected date can move in either direction as the record develops. Changes should be traced to the custodian or court that owns the event. TDCJ controls its custody calculation. BPP controls its vote. The sentencing court controls its judgment and later orders. Crockett County Jail controls its local release transaction.
| Factor | Possible effect | Source to check |
|---|---|---|
| Disciplinary forfeiture or restoration | Changes good-conduct credit used in an eligible calculation | TDCJ classification or jail calculation record |
| Educational or participation credit | May affect a calculation where law authorizes it | Custodian’s official record |
| Jail credit correction | Changes credited time under the judgment | Sentencing court and custodian |
| Consecutive sentence | Moves release beyond one sentence’s date | Judgment and TDCJ record |
| Detainer or hold | Can cause transfer instead of community release | Holding and receiving agencies |
| BPP decision | Approves, denies, defers, or conditions supervised release | BPP decision and status channels |
| New sentence or court order | Changes legal custody or release authority | Court record |
Street-time rules after revocation can also affect a later state calculation. Release processing may occur after the legal milestone shown in a record. If two sources conflict, preserve both dates and labels. A BPP vote date, projected date, court-order date, and actual gate release may all be valid but describe different events.
Confirm Crockett County Actual Release
Use three labels in notes: projected, approved, and actual. A projected date is a forecast. Approved means BPP has taken favorable action, often with conditions or later processing. Actual release is the completed transaction recorded by the prison or jail. Do not collapse these stages into one date.
For a state case, use TDCJ telephone information at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 for general location and information. Use 844-512-0461 for pre-vote status and 512-406-5202 after approval. IVSS can provide state custody or parole event notices to registered users, while the Crockett County VINELink check concerns participating county data. An alert supports verification but is not a certified record.
For a county case, call the Crockett County Sheriff at 325-392-2661 and request the release date, time, authority, and destination. Ask whether “released” means return to the community or transfer to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or ICE. The Crockett County release record search path explains how to request the local transaction when no historical web entry exists.
